Munich's Philipp Lahm
World Cup winning Germany captain Philipp Lahm has
reiterated that he plans to end his playing career in 2018, in an
interview with French paper L'Equipe published on Thursday.
"That is a possible date. I will be 34 then. It will be the right
moment," the 31-year-old Bayern Munich full back and midfielder Lahm
said.
Lahm said he wanted to "quit at the top of my career" and "remember
wonderful years with Bayern" instead of winding down a career in the
United States or Qatar.
Lahm retired from the national team after last year's World Cup title
in Brazil but still has big ambitions with Munich, such as winning
another Champions League title following the success of 2013.
"The feeling of winning this competition is so exhilarating that I
definitely want to win it again before I end my career," he said.
Lahm also pledged that he will remain in the sport beyond his playing
career because "football is my passion. I gives me a lot of joy."
