South Korea stunned hosts Australia 1-0 in the Asian
Cup on Saturday, with a first half goal from Lee Jeong Hyeop enough
to ensure his side win Group A and drop the Socceroos to the
runners-up position.
The defeat brings Australia's 100 per cent record in the tournament
to an end and they face Group B winners China in the quarter-finals.
South Korea, who have won all three games with a single goal, meet
Uzbekistan or Saudi Arabia.
A sell-out crowd roared Australian on in Brisbane but they were
shocked as Lee Jeong Hyeop capped a fine passing move with a
poacher's finish to decide the tie. Despite making chances, Australia
could not find a way past South Korean keeper Kim Jin Hyeon.
In the other group match, Oman's Abdulaziz Al Muqbali scored the only
goal of the game against Kuwait. The victory means Paul Le Guen's
team finish third, with Kuwait bottom.
