Inter Milan drew 0-0 at Empoli Saturday in a setback in
their chase for a Champions League berth as the Italian Serie A
reaches the halfway mark.
The Nerazzurri inched on to 26 points from 19 games, with a
five-point gap to third, which would qualify them for the Champions
League. Empoli are now on 19 points, four clear of the drop zone.
After a good first half, the Tuscany hosts took control of the game
and came close with efforts from forward Manuel Pucciarelli and
defender Marco Andreolli, whose shot was cleared off the line.
Later action pits second-place Roma against hosts Palermo. Roma, on
40 points, sit three adrift of leaders Juventus, who play Sunday at
home to Verona.
