Defending champion Eric Frenzel of Germany
had a winning start into the latest edition of the Seefeld Triple
Nordic combined skiing competition.
Placed fifth after the morning ski-jumping from the normal hill,
Frenzel came first in the 5-kilometres handicap start cross-country
race in 12 minutes 5.0 seconds.
Norwegians Jan Schmid and Jarl Magnus Riiber completed the podium of
the prologue with a deficit of 2.3 and 5.7 seconds, respectively.
The World Cup and Olympic champion Frenzel takes his slim advantage
into the next stage Saturday (one jump, 10km) before the event
concludes Sunday with two jumps and a 15km handicap start race.
Frenzel won all three stages last year in the inaugural Seefeld
Triple.
