Former France player David Ginola said Friday he is
set to challenge Joseph Blatter for the presidency of football's
ruling body FIFA.
In order to become a candidate, Ginola, who is backed by Irish
bookmakers Paddy Power, needs the support of five national
federations until January 29 and must prove active involvement in
football in two of the past five years.
The former Tottenham and Paris St Germain player Ginola, 47,
presented his campaign, saying "The FIFA system isn't working. The
game needs to change" on his campaign website.
Ginola pledged democracy, transparency and equality if he is elected.

Blatter is seeking a fifth term at the May 29 election at the FIFA
Congress in Zurich.
FIFA Vice President Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan and former
FIFA executive Jerome Champagne of France also plan to run for the
top job, and Chile's Harold Mayne-Nicholls possibly as well.
